Review: Agon

I just reviewed John Harper's new game, Agon, which is my pick of GenCon. Check it out. I usually like hippy-dippy pseudo-freeform games, but this is crunch with punch.

I was the player of Ptolemy the Clever-Eyed. I feel I have a much better understanding of the system after that short system, now I just need to get a copy . . .

Wow. My own review and everything! This is a really great review, Jonathan. Thanks so much for writing it. I'm really happy that you like the game, since it was in many ways a love letter to Argonauts.

And thanks for the criticism, too. Your points are well taken, and they'll help me craft an even better game.

It was also really great to meet you and hang out at the con. I hope you end up out here at UW for grad school so we can do a lot more gaming together.

Remi: Yes, it was pretty awesome.

Sean: Yeah, running Agon after playing in that session was much easier after seeing it it action.

John: No problem. How could I not love Agon? I'm so glad that somebody finished a tragic Greek heroes game, since I'm not sure I'd have ever gotten around to it. And you did a badass job, dude. Hopefully we'll be playing more of it here in Boston and I'll be able to give you more feedback on the Strife economy.

Shout out to Remi and Sean! I had a blast playing with you guys, too. Remi, the moment when your character spoke to the river to let me pass? BEST AGON MOMENT EVAR.
