I actually downloaded the original game and played it for 5 minutes.
You play this Brit girl in Africa who's trying to find her missing parents. And, since there aren't any other characters to join your "party," you summon ghosts to help you fight stuff.
In proper old-school NES style, it appears the cover has only two things in common with the game: there's a girl and there's a ghost lion. I have no idea why she looks like she just came from a Stryper concert or needs to be running from the Terminator.

I think she's a little too, um, blonde to make a good piece of cover art for Lions on the Precipice.
