Doing Religion Better
There's a terrific thread on Story Games about doing religion better in RPGs. I'm still not sure what Troy is really looking for, but we're covering a lot of really interesting territory nonetheless.
I hope I didn't come off as confrontational in that thread. To be honest, I wasn't sure what I wanted at first. That's why I brought the topic up. As a result I figured out what I wanted, got it, and ended up with a whole lot more goodness.
I don't think I, as a designer and as a player, am ready for the really deep and emulationist style of religion design you and Brand were advocating. Mainly because, at the moment, I'm not capable of designing something like that. It's really deep, good stuff. In the future, it will be a wonderful resource thread to draw upon.
I very much appreciate your participation in that thread. It's turned out better than I thought it would.
Troy, clearly it's an excellent discussion, and I appreciate you letting it continue unabated, even when we weren't directly addressing your interests. Awesome!
